Visiting Fellowships in the Humanities and Social Sciences, 2016-2017
The Council for British Research in the Levant invites applications for its visiting fellowships. These support research in the humanities and social sciences to be undertaken in the Levant. Fellowships are offered for research based at either the British Institute in Amman or the Kenyon Institute in Jerusalem, or a combination of the two. The period of research must commence between 1 April 2016 and 31 March 2017, and be completed by 30 September 2017.
- senior visiting fellowships are available for established scholars in university posts, and funding will cover accommodation, airfare, a research expense allowance of £250 per month and a teaching replacement budget of £3,000;
- visiting fellowships are available for early-career postdoctoral candidates within three years of the award of their PhD, and funding will cover accommodation, airfare, a research allowance of £400 over six months and subsistence of £400 per month;
- visiting scholarships are available for students conducting PhD or DPhil research and include accommodation, airfare, a research allowance of up to £800 and subsistence of £400 a month.
Applicants for a senior visiting fellowship must be employed at a UK university, applicants for a visiting fellowship must be normally resident in the UK, applicants for visiting scholarships must be registered on a full-time doctoral degree in a UK university.
The number of fellowships and scholarships awarded annually varies.
